My life History “No good ending can be expected in the absence of the right beginning.”~ Jacqueline “Jackie” Murphy was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 7th, 1954. She was born to the martial union of Frank & Beatrice Murphy. Jacqueline was brought up in a loving and Christian home. “If you carry your childhood with you, you never become older.”~ Jackie’s early childhood began in Detroit on Mitchell St. She was baptized at Leland Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. Jackie attended Pershing High School after graduation; she began her college, career at the University of Michigan; where she obtained her nursing degree in 1975. She had a meritorious career working at Receiving Hospital, Harper Hospital and she served as the head nurse at Huron Correctional Facility for men and women for more than 20 years. Jackie helped all those who crossed her path with her vast knowledge of holistic medicine and health. “One generation plants the trees; another gets the shade.”~ Jackie was united in marriage to Larry Radcliff in 1977. Together they raised a family and nurtured 5 children, Erica, Sheldon, Terrance, Steve, and Kaila; the true joy of her life & marriage. The Ultimate blessing was the birth of their first grandson Roman in 2015. “I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow beings let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again.”~ Jackie served her community in many different ways, through volunteering with youth and adult services. She was always willing to assist in raising funds, transporting youth and speaking about health issues to anyone. She was the community health nurse that would rub you down with herbs or would have a regiment for you to take. Jackie was very involved with Cedine Ministries- Bible Camp. She introduced Cedine to 4 women by arranging for them to attend a Women’s Retreat for a week. Soon after, Jackie raised funds for 5 youth to attend bible camp. She spread God’s word in many different ways; there was no judgement in her spirit, only love and compassion. “Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don’t remember me at all.”~ Jackie leaves a caring legacy, working always to heal and care for everyone’s mind, body and spirit. To cherish her everlasting love for her family; Sons, Sheldon, Steven, Terrance, two daughter Erica and Kaila and one grandson; Roman; her brother Charles; four sisters Frankie Mae, Glenda, Lauretta, Cheryl, Sandra and three brother in laws Clarence, Layfette, and Danny. She also touched the lives of many nieces, nephews, and family and friends. Jackie will long be remembered as a woman of purpose, dedicated to the art of care and healing. “A Virtuous Woman”~ A wife of noble character who finds she is worth far more than rubies. She is like the merchant ships bringing her food from afar. She set about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. She sees that her trading is profitable and her lamp does not go out at night. In her hands she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. She is clothed with strength and dignity she can laugh at the day to come. She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and praises her. Many women do noble things but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done and let her work bring her praise at the city gate. Amen!
