Chance Vincent
June 17, 1977 - July 15, 2020
Chance "Legend" Vincent self-named, given name Van Johnson, made his debut into this world June 17, 1977, the first borne of fraternal twins. "Big Boy" as he was affectionately called by his grandmother was raised on the east side of Detroit, attending parochial and public schools, earning a diploma from Martin Luther King high school. Chance worked for the City of Detroit. He enjoyed movies, music, trucks, drawing, and encouraging young ones to stay in school and make something of themselves. He was a very generous man, helping others; he had a smile that showed off his big dimples. He had a keen sense of justice and often questioned current events, pollution, and politics. It took 20 minutes to get off the phone with him as he had to tell you to take care, tell the kids to stay in school, don't be like him, and tell each one that he loved them. He loved pets. He liked to travel and had dreams of living in Amsterdam. He loved children although he was without any of his own. Chance had an extensive comic book collection as well as characters he invented, naming his nephew Kavi after one of them. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed and could sing songs from Disney animations. His grandparents and mother Pamela preceded him in death. Among those who will miss him much, his father; Van Johnson (wife Delores), sisters; Carla, Vanae, and Ashley, brothers; William and Janerio, and nieces, nephews, cousins, neighborhood lifelong friends. We will always remember his big dimples when he smiled, and saying "Love All of Y'all".
