Ardline Harris
November 26, 1944 - June 6, 2022
Ardline (Potts) Harris was born in French Camp, Mississippi on November 26, 1944, to J.D. Potts and Juanita (Carter) Potts. She was a Choctaw County High School graduate and later followed her older siblings to Jackson, Michigan. Ardline was not afraid of hard work; she immediately began working at the well-known Regent Cafe for several years. Ardline’s hard work paid off because she eventually became the proud owner of Snow-White Laundry. Ardline took her children and grandchildren to work with her, to teach them the importance of completing a job right the first time. When working, she was known for taking things apart to try to fix them, which didn’t always work out. Her famous words were, “Don’t ask anybody to do anything you won’t do yourself.” Ardline was very generous and always put others before her own needs. She truly was the strongest and most vital among us all, with incredible unconditional love. If you told her something out of confidence, you could rest assured it would not go anywhere; she would always say it’s not my story to tell. Ardline was always the center of attention; not by choice, but due to her strong personality. Her smile was warm and calming, and her laugh was infectious. Children and animals would gravitate toward her because of her beautiful soul. On June 6, 2022, the Lord called Ardline (Potts) Harris home to the “Pearly Gates of Heaven,” where she’ll receive her wings and be reunited with her parents; J. D Potts and Juanita (Carter)(Potts) Wallace, her daughter; Denise (Harris) Cotton, her sisters; Edith ”Sister” Hannah, Stella Wilks, Alene Lewis, Onita Potts, her brothers: J.D “Charles” Potts, Elvin D Potts, Monroe Potts, Ennis “Tyrone” Potts, Elmo Potts, Marvin Potts, Daniel “Scottie” Potts, baby boy and a special niece; Ivy Lou Hannah. Those who are left to cherish Ardline’s memories are her loving husband of 57 years, Thomas Harris, Sr., her devoted children; Theresa Harris, Thomas Harris, Jr., and Angelene (Harris) Patton, grandchildren; Trumane Harris, Demitriana Harris, and Angel Patton, and great-grandchildren; Tyzae’ Harris, Ky’zir, Zion, Za’Khi, Za’han, and Zya, sister/daughter; Ivy Lee (Potts) Torrey, and tons of nieces and nephews she treated as if they were her own. We were blessed that God loaned Ardline to us for 77 years; we know there will be a void in all of our hearts that no one will be able to fill! We think about you always.
